  Sexual Health

Many people today think that "sexual health" is using condoms to prevent Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) and taking "the pill" or other contraceptives to avoid an unwanted pregnancy.

Not only do condoms and contraceptives fail at times, is there a condom that protects a persons emotions? Or a pill that protects reputations?

Sex is more than just a physical act. There is an emotional and mental bonding that happens when sexual activity is experienced. Within a healthy, faithful marriage this bonding is protected by a lifelong committment. Without marriage, the consequences can be - and often are - devastating. On this page we will be focusing on the physical aspects of choosing to be sexually active, but please consider looking at the information we have on abstinence.

STDS can be passed from person to person through sexual activity - vaginal, anal and oral sex - and some of the more highly contagious diseases can be transmitted simply through sexual touching.

For more information on Sexually Transmitted Diseases, visit the
Centers for Disease Control & Prevention government website.
